FIRST Overview
FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was created in 1989 by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers to inspire youth and help them become leaders in scientific and technological fields. Two ideas stressed by FIRST are cooperation and gracious professionalism, the idea of being helpful and professional while competing and interacting with other teams.
FIRST runs four types of competitions for youth from ages 6-18:
- Jr. FLL (Junior First Lego League)
- FLL (First Lego League)
- FTC (First Tech Challenge)
- FRC (First Robotics Competition)
Team Overview
Chantilly Robotics 612 is part of FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization created in 1989 to inspire youth to become leaders in scientific and technological fields. As participants of the annual FIRST Robotics Competition, Team 612, along with other teams across the world, has six weeks to design, build, and program a robot to compete against each other in a given challenge.
