FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) has announced its 2020 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) game, Infinite Recharge. FIRST, joined by sponsors Disney and Lucasfilm, has launched their Star Wars-themed game at the end of 2019 season, and has now officially launched the game. Chantilly Robotics Team 612 will now have roughly six weeks to develop a strategy, curate a design and construct a robot to compete in the FRC Chesapeake District competitions. To kickstart this season, over 100 members of Team 612 met on Saturday, January 4th, to develop a strategy and decide their approach for FIRST Infinite Recharge. FIRST Infinite Recharge consists of three major game mechanics: The control panel, the power port, and the shield generator. Each mechanic requires a complex mechanism to be developed by each FRC team in order to score more points than their opposing team. Team 612 is excited to begin prioritizing different aspects of the game in order to create a winning strategy that can allow their team to succeed in their district competitions and eventually their district championships. With the help of sponsors, Team 612 may be able to reach its next step in competition as well: The FIRST World Championships in Detroit, MI. Chantilly Robotics aims to raise at least $10,000 just this season in order to provide for equipment, materials, and transportation costs. With your help, Team 612 can secure success in the 2020 FRC season. If interested, please refer to the Sponsorship Information Package available on our website at chantillyrobotics.org/sponsors.htm.
